Track bike: Mark Cavendish takes part in the Six Days in Gent alongside his Belgian teammate Iljo Keisse.
After his serious fall on the first stage of the Tour de France, Mark Cavendish says he is physically fit again and would now like to use the indoor season to prepare for the new season under racing conditions. For the first time since 2007 he is taking part in a six-day race and is happy to be able to do so alongside his friend Iljo Keisse. “He works so hard for me on the street. So it's an honor to drive alongside him here.”
The first day of the event starts promisingly for the returnee. In the points race, Cavendish and Keisse start with a good second place, only one point behind De Buyst/De Ketele. This is followed by further good results, which will keep you in the running for the remaining five days of the event and promise an exciting competition. Both drivers themselves are curious to see how far they can get together at this event.
Cavendish is also now considering a return to the track at the Olympics. The route of the road race in Rio de Janiero does not suit Cavendish. For this reason, the sprint star is toying with the idea of taking part in the Omnium competition at the Olympic Games.
