Cycling: Frenchman Christophe Le Mével ended his cycling career at the age of 34 years and 2 months.
Christophe Le Mével (last Cofidis) has announced the end of his 14-year professional cycling career. The athlete let his fans and colleagues know via Twitter that he was hanging up his cycling shoes. "After much deliberation, it is with great emotion that I announce the end of my professional career after 14 years," wrote Le Mével.
Le Mével's career began with the Crédit Agricole team, for which he pedaled until 2008. He was then signed by FDJ before becoming a Garmin rider. Le Mével spent the last two seasons with Cofidis. His greatest achievements were victory in the 9th stage of the Giro d'Italia in 2005 and notable places in the general classification of the Tour de France. In 2009 he stayed in the top 14 overall, just 25 minutes and 10 seconds behind the winner.
In the future, Le Mével would like to stay true to cycling. In order to keep in touch with his former colleagues and keep up with the sport, he already has a future project in mind. However, the outgoing professional cyclist is still keeping the details secret.
