Cycling: Dan Atherton is a gifted mountain biker, eldest of the Atherton Trio and known for his shovel skills. With Red Bull he created the Red Bull Hardline Event, an event that pushes the best downhill racers to their limits.
The first Red Bull Hardline event took place in September this year. The goal of the race was easy: push the downhill world cup elite to their limits. Dan Atherton built what is probably the most challenging track imaginable. An almost four-minute long course with huge jumps, high-speed passages and technical sections of forest awaited the drivers who were specially invited to this event.
After Gee Atherton, who secured his second world title this year, won the qualification, he was the last one to leave the track on race day. Just ahead of him, Danny Hart caused a stir with an extremely fast run. However, Atherton had to pull out with a flat tire and victory in the first Hardline event went to 2011 World Champion Danny Hart.
