With the Rapide CLX 40 carbon wheelset, Specialized releases a new high-performance all-round wheelset. The optimized rim is very aerodynamic and the high rigidity speaks for a direct driving style and high driving stability. In addition, the rim has a slightly wider inner profile, which reduces rolling resistance. The low weight also speaks for the all-round capabilities of these wheels.
High-quality ceramic roller bearings in the front and rear wheel hubs ensure very smooth and quiet running. The braking behavior is very good and, as is typical for carbon, drops off a bit in the wet.
The Roval wheelset seemed very solid to us and is therefore a recommendation for all those who are looking for "one for all" and do not have to pay too much attention to the price. Specialized gave the wheels good material properties, but I didn't notice any particularly outstanding riding characteristics that would overshadow the competitors in this test.
