cycling: Tony Martin with ambitions for a world hour record

19 November 2014 by the editorial office

Cycling: Tony Martin wants to tackle the hour record in the coming season. However, when and where he wants to do this is not yet certain.

The hour record is currently on everyone's lips. With the rule change by the UCI, that time bikes can be used from now on, there are many professionals who want to try the hour world record. Now Tony Martin wants to try his luck too. The multiple time trial world champion told Radsport-News about his ambitions for the record. “I will discuss it with my team in the coming days. It's important that nothing overlaps with the road races and that I still have enough time to prepare for it. I have a strong team behind me. I think next year I will tackle the record”said Martin

Just a few weeks ago, Matthias Brändle set a new record of 51.852 kilometers, replacing Jens Voigt. The chances that Martin will break this record are extremely good. His experience on the time trial bike and his physical condition make him one of the biggest favorites for the record.
