Market: "We want to build the best bike" - the Koblenz-based bike manufacturer Canyon is starting the new season with these high standards and very interesting MTB innovations. In addition to the all-mountain bike Spectral, the Enduro Strive with the Shapeshifter system is causing quite a stir.
Canyon Spectral AL / Spectral CF
At Canyon, the Spectral forms the link between the Nerve touring bike and the Enduro Strive. The bike is available in both an aluminum version (Spectral AL) and a high-end carbon version (Spectral CF). According to the manufacturer, the weight of the innovative carbon frame is only 1950 grams. While the Spectral CF only rolls on 27.5 inch wheels, the buyer of the Spectral AL can choose between 27.5 inch and 29 inch wheels. The suspension travel of 140 millimeters on the 27.5 inch bike and 130 millimeters on the 29 inch bike should guarantee the rider flowy trails and efficient power transmission. Starting with the 2015 model year, Canyon has opted for a longer stack and reach to increase smoothness and riding stability. This results in a longer and higher front center with less rollover feel. The Spectral is available in the aluminum version from 1999 euros (29" from 2099 euros) and in the carbon version from 3699 euros.
Canyon Strive AL / Strive CF
The outstanding feature of the enduro is undoubtedly the Shapeshifter system. The system allows the rider to adjust the chassis to the different requirements of the trail while riding. From the handlebars, the rider can use a remote control to change the damper linkage and thus choose between two fundamentally different geometries, characteristics and spring deflections. In plain language, this means that a change of 1,5° is possible in both the steering angle and the seat angle. The bottom bracket height has also changed by a full 19 mm. Depending on the trail and the selected setting, the rider has 160 mm of suspension travel available for downhills and 130 mm of suspension travel for XC/uphills that are easy to climb. The innovative enduro is available in several aluminum and carbon versions at prices between 2499 euros (Strive AL 6.0) and 4999 euros (Strive CF 9.0 SL).
