Market: After there were already direct mount chainrings for the Sram X0 crank from third-party manufacturers and the weight of the now unnecessary spider could thus be saved, Sram is now presenting its first direct mount chainrings for its eleven-speed drive.
The Direct Mount chainrings are basically nothing new, but after third-party manufacturers came forward, Sram is now catching up. For their eleven-speed XX1, X01 and X1 1440 drives, they have now developed their own chainrings, which can be mounted directly on the crank. This saves the weight of the spider, which until now has acted as the interface between the crank and the chain ring.
The new chainrings come in a subtle Lokk and of course have the X-Sync technology, so that chain guides are a thing of the past.
The new aluminum blades save between 25 and 50 grams. These can be selected in sizes from 26 teeth to 40 teeth and cost 88 euros. The first chainrings will be available now, but only 30, 32 and 34 tooth chainrings. The remaining sizes will be on the market from April 2015.
