cycling: Last run of the World Cup - Pauwels almost through

25 January 2015 by the editorial office

This Sunday, the last run of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup will take place in Hoogerheide, Netherlands. On the 2014 World Championship course, the last points will be awarded today. It will be difficult for the drivers to push Kevin Pauwels from the top, with 370 points he is already 80 points ahead of Lars van der Haar. Whether Philipp Walsleben can still make it onto the podium is questionable. After the best German in the World Cup had to fight an infection after the German Championship and was not able to train fully, he is probably still not at 100% again.
However, he is only 14 points behind the Belgian Corne van Kessel in third place.

For the women, it will be really exciting again for the overall victory. The Belgian Sanne Cant leads with 206 points ahead of Katherine Compton from the USA with just 29 points. However, Ellen van Loy, Sophie de Boer and Lucia Chainel-Lefevre can also join the fight for the white jersey. Above all, Marianne Vos, Pauline Ferrand Prevot and Katerina Nash will fight for today's victory in one last duel before the World Cup.
