Cycling: After ten years, Bad Salzdetfurth will skip 2015 and will not be part of the KMC Bundesliga series in September. The good news: Bad Säckingen is stepping in as the final organizer and replacing Bad Salzdetfurth as the second HC race in the series.
For ten years in a row, in Bad Salzdetfurth, there was a contest for Bundesliga points or twice for German championship titles. Those responsible around Thomas Kasten from the city of Bad Salzdetfurth have now decided in 2015 to refrain from holding the final of the KMC Bundesliga International again.
The background to the long-discussed decision is actually positive for mountain bike sport: the city of Bad Salzdetfurth is making further efforts to expand its bike and outdoor park. The German Cyclo-Cross Championship has already taken place there, as well as races for the Cross-Country Germany Cup.
In order to bundle the forces in the city for this project, Bad Salzdetfurth decided not to host a national league race in 2015. “A breather” is what the first city councilor Thomas Kasten calls it, where the organizational threads come together.
The time-out could already be over in 2016, because the national league race and the city as a MTB location enjoy a high reputation, which is to be further expanded in the future. Also with the further expansion of the bike and outdoor park. A Central Germany Cup is also to take place there in September, as was the case in 2014.
“We want to use the name we have made for ourselves even more sustainably”, according to Thomas Kasten. The Bikesport Bad Salzdetfurth club, which was founded six months ago and is already successfully involved in youth work, shows that MTB sport is gaining a foothold in the brine town.
