Cycling: Tomorrow Sunday the Australian Rohan Dennis from the ranks of BMC starts another attack on the hour after his compatriot Jack Bobridge recently had failed. As a little foretaste, here are a few details about the BMC Trackmachine on which he wants to break Matthias Brändle's record.
At 14:00 p.m. tomorrow, Dennis will start pedaling at the Velodrome Suisse. The surprise winner of this year's Tour Down Under can expect a strenuous 60 minutes, after which there should be more than 51,852km on the clock if possible. Fellow countryman Bobridge warned Dennis last week that he would have to go through hell to break the record. The 24-year-old will dare this hell of a ride on a BMC Trackmachine specially adapted for the test.
The aerodynamics of the Trackmacine TR01 have been further optimized for the record attempt, the rigidity increased and the weight reduced. After these optimizations in BMC's Impec Advanced R&D laboratory, the weight is an impressive 6,45kg - although the weight was of course subsequently increased to 6,8kg to comply with UCI regulations.
