Cycling: With the day's victory in the penultimate stage of the Tour of Algarve, the Australian Richie Porte was able to win the king's stage again after 2012. The Brit Geraint Thomas, like Porte also starting for Team Sky, finished the fourth stage in fourth place and thus continues to claim the overall lead.
Although Etixx-Quick Step team driver Michal Kwiatkowski from Poland managed to get a good second place, it wasn't enough to leave the Briton behind in the overall classification. In the overall standings, Thomas is now 27 seconds ahead of Kwiatkowski. The Spaniard Ion Izaguirre (Team Movistar) finished third in the difficult stage with a mountain finish at Alto do Malhao. Tony Martin, winner of the time trial, finished 4th, 43:48 behind Porte, falling far behind in the overall standings. Today the last stage of the Tour of Algarve takes place.
