Spectrum: The new campaign 'I drive with heart' initiated by the two-wheeler purchasing cooperative (ZEG) will begin on May 9th at the Tempelhofer Feld in Berlin with a family festival and a large supporting program including a world record attempt. The campaign wants to promote a more respectful handling of road traffic throughout Germany.
According to the motto of the campaign "Without consideration - without me!", cyclists and all other road users should be made aware of a more considerate coexistence on Germany's roads. In view of the statistical trends, this is also absolutely necessary: the number of cyclists has been rising steadily for years, but while the number of fatalities on the roads is generally falling, that of cyclists continues to rise. Georg Honkomp, chairman of the initiator ZEG, therefore holds all those involved responsible: “The bicycle as the means of transport of the future is conquering our cities more and more. This requires new urban planning concepts, but also a new way of working together for everyone involved in traffic.”
The stage program of the event is designed by Berlin children and young people and finds its climax in the evening performance of "ELAIZA". But all sorts of other things are also offered, including a bicycle course for children, test routes for e-bikes and numerous lectures on the subject of road safety. Another highlight of the day will be a world record attempt: the goal is to form the longest bicycle line in the world and thus secure an entry in the Guinness Book. Anyone can take part - all you have to do is bring your bike to Tempelhofer Feld at 12:30 p.m.
