For me, the last two weeks were all about the first two cycling weeks in Füssen, which are new this year in the extensive range of sports on offer at the Wellness hotel summer are offered at the Füssener Forggensee. In cooperation with the Füssen Tourist Association and other partner hotels, a cycling week now takes place in Füssen every month, which is supervised by me and the drivers of the Kirchmair Cycling Team.
They are, so to speak, the counterpart in my annual program to the otherwise rather sporty team training camps and thus the perfect opportunity for everyone who wants to approach the topic of cycling in a more relaxed way - without performance considerations, but under guided framework conditions with a group character, inputs on the right technique, Improving endurance and fitness level. So there are not only trips, but also different topics each week, in which I bring my experience as an athlete and coach and team leader.
The basic weeks in April were the perfect start, the weather was great and the groups were very homogeneous and balanced. In the prominent company of the host (Wolfgang Sommer is himself an enthusiastic cyclist) and some other partners such as Jürgen Doser, (Doser Haustechnik) Georg Kaufmann, (Hotel Kaufmann) some of my team drivers and local guides from the RSG Ostallgäu led us on the flat tours to wavy terrain along the Lech and the Füssener lakes with a wonderful panorama and a great atmosphere in the group.
I was also on some of the tours myself and was able to give interested cyclists some tips on their questions. At the start of the season, the focus was of course on “driving in a group”. How do I behave properly in the group? How are obstacles or pavement damage displayed? How do I save energy by slipstreaming? And many other questions of this kind were part of the supporting program of the cycling weeks alongside leisurely coffee breaks.
The next bike week in Füssen starts on May 17th - directly after our big team "Kick Off" in Füssen from May 13th-17th. May. After the start of the race at Lake Achensee, this is the official start of the season for the Kirchmair Cycling Team with riders, sponsors, partners and the media. The team riders get to know all the partners there and are of course photographed in their brand new team outfit in order to always fill the new homepage and our other communication channels with the latest image material.
For me, it's now about the more intensive preparation for the Achensee Marathon - both athletically and organizationally, before then, as I said, the focus is completely dedicated to the "kick off" in Füssen. I'm happy that things are finally starting and I'm looking forward to a good start to the season with the team riders at Lake Achensee and in Füssen.
See you soon, your Stefan
