Cycling: The Irishman Sam Bennett (Bora-Argon 18) was able to celebrate his second victory in this year's Bayern Tour in Ebern after the 206 km long stage. The 24-year-old also grabs the overall leader's yellow jersey from yesterday's winner John Degenkolb, who finished seventh today.
Today's stage of the Bayern Tour from Selb to Ebern was equally entertaining and varied for drivers and spectators. Again and again there were successful attacks, but none of the breakaway groups was able to stay in the lead over a longer distance. A similar picture emerged in the final kilometers when the field was together again: there were repeated attacks, but these were always stopped by the strong work in the peloton.
In the end there was a mass sprint, in which the protagonists of the past few days set the tone again: The teams from Cofidis (Nacer Bouhanni), Bora-Argon 18 (Sam Bennett) and Giant-Alpecin (John Degenkolb) worked hard for their sprinters and put them in good positions. In the end it was Ireland's Sam Bennett who won as he did on day one ahead of Nacer Bouhanni - for the Frenchman it's third second place on day three of the Tour. John Degenkolb didn't do as well in the sprint as yesterday and ended up seventh. As a result, he also has to cede the leader's yellow jersey back to Sam Bennett.
