Cycling: The Russian team Saxo-Tinkoff will compete with an extremely strong team at the Giro d'Italia, which begins on Saturday. In addition to the top favorite Alberto Contador, the very experienced drivers Ivan Basso, Roman Kreuziger and Michael Rogers will also be at the start.

Other Giro squads include Manuele Boaro, Christopher Juul-Jensen, Sergio Paulinho, Ivan Rovny and Matteo Tosatto. Alberto Contador can therefore rely on the strong backing of his team. Of course, the main focus of the squad is the overall ranking. Supports for Contador are said to be Kreuziger and Rogers in the high mountains. Boaro, Juul-Jensen and Tosatto should score in the flat stages, in the low mountain range the team relies on Boaro, Paulinho and Rovny. Contador, who has high expectations, had recently prepared for the Giro on Mount Teide.
