Cycling: After a long back and forth and desperate wait, the UCI announced today that this year's Fourcross World Championship is returning to Italy. Thus, from August 21st to 23rd, the gates will fall again in Val di Sole and exciting duels will be held.
The contract for this year's UCI Fourcross World Championship went to Val di Sole in Italy today. After the plan was to hold the World Championships on the home track of the reigning world champion Tomas Slavik in Jablonec nad Nisou, but the UCI kept a low profile for too long and it was therefore no longer possible to hold the World Championships, Val di Sole will now host the World Championships.
The track in the valley of the sun is nothing new for the fourcross scene. A world championship was held here in 2008. At that time, the German drivers were eliminated in the round of 4 and Rafael Alvarez and Melissa Buhl secured their respective rainbow jerseys. This year the chances for the German drivers are definitely better. Last year Benedikt Last was able to achieve a phenomenal third place at the XNUMXX Pro Tour in Italy. But Aiko Göhler, who had to settle for fourth place after a fall in the final at the last World Championships, is also a hot favorite for a podium.
