Test: The French manufacturer Zéfal is known for its large selection of pumps, most of which have a very good price/performance ratio. This also applies to the Zéfal Air Profil Micro, which proved to be a really successful all-rounder in the test.

The 16,5 cm long pump from Zéfal is a real eye-catcher: Our version comes in a polished chrome look with turquoise-blue accents. With the mentioned 165mm length, the Zéfal Air Profil Micro is one of the rather large representatives of the micropumps and is only conditionally compatible with jersey pockets.
The pump head can cope with the widespread Schrader valves as well as with the more exotic car valves used in racing bikes. In order to change the type of valve, the insert has to be turned inside out - this is a bit fiddly, but works without any problems. And who has to regularly fill different valve types with a hand pump? The clamping lever on the back of the pump head didn't really convince us - mainly because the very small lever can only be moved with enormous effort, even after repeated use. However, if the head gets stuck on the valve, it stays tight without any problems.
A nice solution is also hidden under the pump handle: To ensure that the pump does not always loosen and rattle by itself while driving, Zéfal has installed an O-ring that can be attached in two positions - one for pumping and one for transport. This works very well and reliably. When it comes to pumping, the French mini pump surprises us: It was one of the very few small pumps in our tests that could cope well with both high pressure and somewhat more voluminous road bike tires of around 28mm. Although it has to admit defeat to the respective specialists of the competition in both areas, the Air Profil Micro is still an excellent all-rounder.
