Cycling: Learning from the pros. That's what young downhill talents from 11 to 18 years can do at the Rookie Training Days supported by MS Mondraker Team, which take place from August 3rd to 9th, 2015 as part of the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis MTB Festival. School is over, the reports have been distributed - finally time to use the summer break for an action-packed schedule! Under the motto "Ride with the pros", this somewhat different kind of curriculum covers everything from riding technique and bike mechanics to the marketing plan for prospective professional riders - fun guaranteed included.
All beginnings are difficult. In order to make this start a little easier and to give young talents a helping hand when they get started in downhill sports, Trail Solutions, after the successful camp last year, is back in 2015 with a team of coaches, physiotherapists and mechanics, together with the DH World Cup Team MS Mondraker , mountain rescuers, downhill pros and "special guests" together for an exclusive training camp.
There, the potential pros of the future can not only learn the right lines from downhill pros and get autographs, but also pick up lots of tips and collect the necessary theoretical knowledge.
Because a pro doesn't just fall out of the sky and a good deal more is needed in addition to a good portion of talent, courage and racing fever, in addition to lots of mountain bike action there are also workshops such as "Warm up like a Pro", "Get fit - stay healthy", "Screw like a Pro" or an age-appropriate presentation on the subject of safety on the mountain with the Tyrolean mountain rescue service is on the agenda. But just as important as physical fitness is self-presentation in order to become a professional. That is why there are also valuable tips on sponsoring and media presence.
Anyone who would like to put what they have learned into practice in a race can do so at the iXS Rookies Downhill Cup and at the iXS International Rookies Championships in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis at the end of the week. Riders who already belong to the junior license class can show what they can do at the Austria Downhill Cup. The camp supervisors will accompany the participants through the race weekend and the pros will be on hand as advisors on the track walk and for the training runs.
The parents of the downhill offspring are also very welcome. You can talk to each other, go biking yourself, or listen to the presentations for the juniors. The "Family Challenge" rating as part of the iXS International Rookies Championships is a special "treat" for the "downhill parents". The times of the youngsters are added to the times of the fathers or mothers who tackle the trail out of competition. The team with the best overall time at the end wins.
