cycling: Four Peaks #3: Sauser gets his first win of the day

June 20, 2015 by Andrew Waldera

four peaks #3

MTB Cycling: This year's edition of the Protective Bike Four Peaks continues to be exciting. In the third and penultimate stage, Christoph Sauser (Specialized Racing) was able to assert himself in a sprint duel against the overall leader Juri Ragnoli (Team Scott) from Italy.

After two second places, defending champion Christoph Sauser was able to celebrate his first victory at the Protective Bike Four Peaks 2015. The Swiss driver needed 59,25:2 hours for the 49.38,2 kilometers from Hermagor to Nassfeld/Tröpolach, in the end only 0,4 seconds separated first and second place. For the third time in a row, the Austrian Uwe Hochenwarter (Bikearena Obertraun) took third place. Matthias Leisling was once again the best German participant with fourth place. The Swede Calle Friberg (Scott Skoda) had little luck: Due to a fall on the first descent from Madritschen, the winner of the second stage had to end the race prematurely.

In the women's category, Sanne van Paassen (Specialized) is slowly but surely closing the sack. With her third victory, the Dutchwoman impressively dominates the women's classification at the Protective Bike Four Peaks 2015. Almost four minutes behind, the Swiss Cornelia Hug (Crazy Velo Shop Scott) crossed the finish line as the second fastest, followed by her too Swiss-born Erika Speck (Vesto/RMC Appenzell).
