Market: The Berlin-based clothing specialists from Platzangst have a new collection in their program for 2015, with which every mountain biker can optimally dress. The portfolio starts with stylish T-shirts, makes the enduro rider look good in the forest and also has the right outfit for the radical downhiller.
Functionality and innovative design are two keywords that fit perfectly with this year's claustrophobic collection. The Berliners by choice have already been able to inspire with simple yet unusual designs in recent years and with the new collection they seamlessly follow on from there.
"With innovative designs and our own interpretation of freedom, for the 2015 collection we not only rely on bikers who really let it rip down the mountain, but also on colleagues who eat up a lot of altitude meters to fight for their fun", says André Horak, managing director of claustrophobia.
The new collection shows many old acquaintances in a new guise as well as new faces. For example, there is still the popular Crossflex series for all-mountain use, which again this year convinces with a lot of freedom of movement and light fabrics. It has practical details such as a zip pocket and mobile phone pocket, as well as side ventilation zones. It is perfect for very hot summer days on the bike and, with its summery cords, also invites you to take a detour to the lake.
The matching jacket has similar properties and, like the trousers, is made from 84% nylon and 16% spandex. The body-hugging cut, underarm ventilation and a wind stopper zone in the chest area make the jacket a very suitable everyday accessory in addition to activity on the bike.
New to the range is the Snakebite, fully ventilated bike shorts for all-mountain and enduro use. In the past few weeks, it had to prove itself in action and impressed on extensive enduro tours. It is made entirely of nylon and has a PU coating that is water-repellent. The extensive ventilation concept with double mesh layers makes the trousers appear much more robust than the Crossflex and, thanks to the large pockets, offer plenty of space for mobile phones, keys and other necessities.
Another novelty is the Antilope, radical freeride pants for the toughest use. It is perfect for use in the bike park and, in addition to large side pockets, also has a pocket for the lift ticket. Like the Snakebite, it can be adjusted at the hips with a waistband adjustment. Also made of nylon, the surface of the trousers was waxed, which not only gives them a great look, but also makes them dirt and water-repellent.
With the Backster Longsleeve you have the perfect counterpart for the upper body to the antelope. The top is quick-drying thanks to the material composition and has a small pocket on the left hip. We used the combination of Antilope and Backster in the bike park and were immediately impressed by the robustness and freedom of the clothing. In addition to the casual look, you can carry everything you need for a good day in the park.
T-shirts are also casual. Who wouldn't want to wear clothes from their favorite company in everyday life? In addition to the Backster long-sleeved shirt, which also looks great in everyday life, claustrophobia also has a large number of T-shirts and shirts on offer. The functional shirts like the WRF and the Roof have a quick-drying fabric that ensures good ventilation and neutralizes odors. They are perfect for everyday use, on a fixie or dirt bike.
One of the big highlights of this year's collection is the downhill combination developed with team rider Johannes Fischbach. The React One Pants were developed together with the German DH champion. Unlike the Bulldog, they are fully ventilated DH pants and optimized for the demands of World Cup racing. Thanks to the transverse and longitudinal elastic inserts, it adapts perfectly to the movements in the flex zones. The React One is available with the associated steward jersey as a race suit in a limited edition of 200 pieces.
