Market: Shimano is starting the 68 season with an impressive range of 2016 different shoe models. The first models will probably be available from September 2015 at the earliest.
The new Shimano products will be presented for the first time at the current OUTDOOR in Friedrichshafen. The shoe lineup covers almost the entire spectrum of cycling. In addition to special shoes for racing bikes, the Japanese group offers the right footwear for triathletes, mountain bikers and touring cyclists. The wide range also includes cycling shoes for women.
In the area of road bike shoes, Shimano is expanding its range for 2016 with four new road performance models that are intended to close the gap between professional shoes and the models for sporty, ambitious hobby riders. The four shoe models RP9, RP5, RP3 and RP2 are expected to be available from October.
Interested parties will also have to wait until October for the two new Cross Mountain models XM9 and XM7. The shoes were developed for adventurers who prefer extreme situations and rough terrain. So it's no wonder that nubuck leather, Gore-Tex material and Vibram soles were used in the manufacture of the XM9 and XM7.
For triathletes, Shimano presents the top triathlon shoe TR9 in Shimano blue with a carbon sole. A shoe that was designed for uncompromising performance and racing success - for example, the seamless lining should offer a very high level of barefoot comfort. The fastening straps should guarantee optimal power transmission and quick handling in the transition zone. The shoe is expected to be available from September.
Shimano is launching four new Gravity models for mountain bikers. The AM series primarily appeals to downhill bikers and enduro riders who want to step on the gas on the trail. The shoes should offer the rider extremely good grip, excellent wheel control and optimal stiffness. In addition to the three models AM9, AM7 and AM5, there will also be the trail winter shoe MW7 for the wet and cold season.
The women can also start the 2016 season with new momentum. With the seven new models, the Shimano range of women's shoes has grown to a total of 14 models. The new WR84 Road Competition shoe is designed to guarantee real racing performance for road cyclists, while the new WM64 and WM53 models are ideal for female XC mountain bikers. Equivalent to the men's shoes, there are models RP5 Woman, RP3 Woman, RP2 Woman and TR9 Woman with a specifically female fit. The women's shoes will be available from September or October.
