cycling: Urs Huber wins Extreme sur Loue

Cycling: The Swiss Urs Huber from Team BULLS won the autumn classic Extreme sur Loue and thus extended the overall lead in the UCI MTB Marathon. Martin Fanger from the BMC MTB Racing Team followed in second place and the podium was completed by Daniel Geismayr from the Centurion Vaude team.

One of the most beautiful and at the same time most demanding races in the UCI MTB calendar this year goes to the big favourite: Urs Huber (Team Bulls), who also leads the overall ranking of the UCI MTB marathon category, sat down after a powerful final sprint with a lead of 48 Seconds ahead of second-placed Martin Fanger. Huber was the center of attention right from the start: He controlled the leading group, which in view of the sometimes murderous speed over the 84 km became smaller and smaller.

15 kilometers before the finish, Huber forced the decision: the Bulls driver attacked from the leading group, which now consisted of only eight drivers, and could not be stopped. He used the technically demanding section to distance his opponents - Geismayer capitulated immediately, Martin Fanger was able to hold on to Huber's rear wheel for a short period, but then finally had to be torn off as well.

Of course, the winner was extremely satisfied and very happy with the course and result of the race: “I felt very strong right from the start and drove almost everything from the front. That's why I was a bit surprised that the leading group was quite large for so long. I just kept doing my thing and at some point we were just the three of us. In the technical descent 15 kilometers before the finish, I sensed my chance and put everything on one card, from then on I went flat out. I'm really happy about the victory here at the classic in Ornans, because the field was extremely strong, as always. My shape is still very good at the moment and it was really fun to race again today!”
