Market: Manual tire tread adjustment has always been a common practice to further increase the efficiency of MTB tires depending on the terrain conditions. With the Tread Cutter, Schwalbe is launching a profile cutter that was specially developed for the post-processing of mountain bike tires.
Although almost every area of use can be covered with the tires available on the market, fine-tuning the rubber can bring the decisive advantage, especially in the race. For example, cutting mud tires like the Dirty Dan is very popular: By shortening the massive central lugs, the tire impresses with noticeably better rolling behavior. Even all-round tires like the Schwalbe Hans Dampf still offer potential for tuning. Cutting back the lugs in the shoulder area creates more space, making the profile even more aggressive. Finally, you can also save money with the Schwalbe Tread Cutter: A cut gives a straight edge to cleats that have been driven round.
The Schwalbe Tread Cutter enables the tire to be cut precisely thanks to the cutting height adjustment. The new, very useful tool was presented at the World Cup Downhill start in Lourdes, France. The Schwalbe Tread Cutter will be available from the end of April, the price is given by the manufacturer as 26,90 euros.
