Market: The traditional Lombard company Santini has been designing the jerseys for the famous Giro d'Italia for over 20 years. For the stage race starting today, Santini presents a special collection dedicated to the four most important stages of the Giro 2016. Inspired by the peculiarities of the individual stages, each bike shirt impresses with an unmistakable, unique design.
Gelderland jersey
The first three stages of the 2016 Giro d'Italia run through the Dutch province of Gelderland. According to the national color of the extremely Fiets-enthusiastic people, the Gelderland jersey has many orange details. Elements such as the lion's head in the front graphic are reminiscent of the Dutch coat of arms. The Dutch flag on the back creates a link to the first stage of the 2016 Giro. Hooray!
Jersey Dolomiti
The most spectacular mountain stage of the Giro d'Italia 2016 will be held in the Dolomites. The Dolomiti jersey is dedicated to the 14th stage, which passes through many places that have already made cycling history in the past. Breathtaking passes are guaranteed on this stage! The graphic on the front of the shirt shows the skyline of the Dolomites, with the distinctive lettering “dolomiti” underneath. Of course, the raven, which appears in many myths and fairy tales of the region, should not be missing!
Jersey Colle d'Agnello
The blue/sky blue jersey Colle d'Agnello is dedicated to the highest peak of the Giro 2748 at 2016 meters. For Santani, this stage also has a very emotional meaning. During the 19th stage of the Giro on June 1, 1995, an avalanche released two meters below the summit. Company founder Pietro Santini was sitting in one of the three cars buried by the avalanche. Luckily, those involved escaped unscathed! The elephant depicted on the shirt symbolizes Hanniball crossing the pass with his army of elephants in 200 BC. Chr.
Santini jersey Chianti
The ninth stage of the Giro 2016 leads through the enchanting hilly landscape of the Chianti area. The individual time trial is over 40,4 kilometers on the program - the backdrop for this is the world-famous vineyards. So it's no wonder that the shirt comes in violet and red tones, based on the Chianti wine world. The black rooster on the front and back shows the Chianti Classico symbol. The graphic design of a wreath of trees, the obligatory bottle and wine glass complete the very successful design.
