It's not just the pleasant, quiet atmosphere that invites you to go shopping on Brienner Strasse in Munich between Königsplatz and Odeonsplatz near Ertl/Renz. The exclusive selection of brands - be it hardware and components or cycling gear - can hardly be found in this form in any other shop in this country. In addition to the entire Assos range, there is also a large selection from the Café du Cycliste and De Marchi collections.
Also brand new for this season are jerseys and trousers from the small Danish company FIBR and, exclusively in Germany, a selection of the noble Velobici clothes, which should appeal to many cyclists with their successful mix of modern cut and material and a certain retro charm.
The exclusive kit for Munich Cycle Club members is manufactured by De Marchi and remains true to the brand's elegant, simple style. The shoes that go with the outfit come from Evers, which has already made a name for itself in its short time on the market. The shoe, which is colour-coordinated with the MCC outfit, can even be individually adapted to the wearer: Ertl/Renz uses a 3D scanner for this, which measures the feet and sends the data directly to Italy, where the matching shoe is then produced . Approximately €700 is due for such a one-off production – the Evers PRIMO comes in 'standard sizes' for €360.
Every cycling fan and bike enthusiast should feel right at home when entering the store: photos from the past days of cycling, a book corner, beautiful bikes and last but not least a small coffee bar with beans roasted in-house.
In the basement of the spacious store, things get down to business: a tidy workshop and complete bike and component dreams await bike enthusiasts here
At Ertl/Renz there are not only racing bikes and MTBs from Cannondale but also frames and wheels from the noble titanium manufacturer No.22. In addition, the Munich noble store is the only one in Germany that carries the entire range of the carbon specialists from Lightweight: from wheels to handlebar tapes to drinking bottles.
Co-owner Sven Renz is an ardent Cipollini fan - it's not for nothing that you keep coming across the illustrious name in the store. Be it on Sven's racing machine, which was in the workshop for inspection, or on the two still bare frames on the staircase: You will soon find out what they are all about in another blog entry.
In any case, if you live in Munich, or are visiting or vacationing in the Bavarian state capital, you should definitely pay a visit to the store at Brienner Straße 13.
