MTB cycling: what a thrilling finale at the KMC MTB Bundesliga Eliminator in Albstadt! Felix Klausmann clinched victory and relegated the favorites Fabrice Mels and Jeroen Eck to places in the final. For world champion Daniel Federmann it was already over in the quarter-finals.
The Austrian Daniel Federmann, who was considered the top favourite, had certainly imagined the course of tonight at the KMC MTB Bundesliga Eliminator in Albstadt differently. In the quarter-finals, the world champion's chain fell off in the second corner and he missed out on the next round. In the big showdown of the best four of the evening, Felix Klausmann, Fabrice Mels from Belgium, third at the World Championships, former European champion Jeroen Eck from the Netherlands and Toni Partheymüller competed against each other.
Felix Klausmann got off to a great start and was the first driver to take the first corner. Halfway through the 600 meter lap, Tony Partheymüller created a key situation. Redwitzer, who was in second place at the time, got his handlebars stuck on the limit, Klausmann was able to pull away a little and easily win the KMC MTB Bundesliga Eliminator in Albstadt. A disappointed Fabrice Mels came in second ahead of Jeroen van Eck. Fourth was unlucky Toni Partheymüller.
Shortly before the race in Albstadt, another change in the schedule of the KMC MTB Bundesliga race in Ortenberg, Hesse, was announced. For organizational reasons, there will be no Eliminator Sprint at the event in Ortenberg at the end of August! However, the UCI category 2 cross-country races will take place as planned.
