Market: So far, the Prestige equipment variant has represented the ultimate at the Austrian manufacturer KTM - for the 2017 model year, the two XC models Myroon and Scarp are now going one better: the new KTM Myroon Sonic and KTM Scarp Sonic are there only the finest components and the frames get an extra portion of love.
The bright orange KTM stand at the Eurobike Media Days proudly presented its new top cross-country models, which will henceforth bear the name Sonic. The Racefully Scarp and the Hardtail Myroon share the noble equipment: This consists not only of the just presented SRAM Eagle 12-speed groupset, but also comes with color-coordinated Fox Stepcast fork, carbon wheels from DT Swiss and an extremely light Ritchey Superlogic carbon cockpit .
But it's not just the equipment that has been changed in the new Sonic series, there have also been some technical changes to the frame. We are particularly proud that we were able to further reduce the weight of the already light carbon fiber frame. A new carbon layup is responsible for this, in which the arrangement and composition of the fibers could be optimized in such a way that the frame weight for the Myroon Sonic drops to just 1090g - that's over 150g less than the previous model. In the case of the Myroon, only the top model gets the weight-reduced frame, with the Scarp, which is also lighter for 2017, all equipment variants benefit from the new basis.
The weight of the Myroon race hardtail drops to 8,1 kg – making the KTM one of the lightest complete bikes currently available in this segment. The Scarp also easily breaks the magical 9,1 kg mark, weighing a sensational 10 kg.
