Cycling: The 6th stage of the Eneco Tour went to the escapees. Luka Pibernik (Lampre-Merida) prevailed from a five-man breakaway just ahead of the field. Meanwhile, Rohan Dennis (BMC) was able to easily defend his overall lead.
The peloton comes too late
On the way from Riemst to Lanaken, the drivers had to cover a total of 197,2 kilometers. A total of eight slipways were on the program, a slightly wavy profile, but no cobblestone passages. Unlike three days ago, this time the duel between the escape group and the peloton went in favor of the escapees. Luka Pibernik (Lampre-Merida), Mark McNally (Wanty), Bert Van Lerberghe (Topsport Vlaanderen), Alexis Gougeard (Ag2R) and Chad Haga (Giant-Alpecin) managed to save a five-second lead to the finish. In the end, the young Slovene Luka Pibernik prevailed in the sprint and was able to celebrate his first victory on the World Tour.
