Market / Eurobike: Of course, the Baksian manufacturer BH Bikes also had some new models in their luggage for the Eurobike. On the one hand, the recently announced BH Lynx Race Carbon race fully could be examined for the first time, on the other hand, the Rebel E-MTBs with the new PW-X drive from Shimano were also on display for the first time.
BH Rebel - top models of the new e-bike series with the new Yamaha PW-X drive
In the spring, BH had already announced the new Rebel e-bike model series with a Yamaha drive. As announced at the Eurobike, the two top models of the 2017 series even come with the recently presented PW-X drive, which not only has an internal gear and a new display, but is also almost half a kilo lighter than its predecessor and also has a little more power.
Both the BH Rebel Lynx 5.5 27,5 Plus PW-X and the Rebel 27,5 Plus PW-X riders will be able to enjoy the new top drive. The previous engine will initially be used on the other models. With the Lynx 5.5 PW-X, we were able to take a closer look at one of the two models in Friedrichshafen. The clearly shrunken dimensions of the motor, which also weighs more than 300g less, are noticeable at first glance. But there is a lot of power in the small power pack - it should bring up to 80Nm on the trail, also thanks to the new Extrapower mode, which provides additional thrust on particularly steep ramps.
The new display also catches the eye: Smaller dimensions, a somewhat clumsy-looking appearance - at first glance one might conclude that this is a step backwards, but Yamaha has adjusted much more to the area of application: Not only thanks to the optional new mounting space next to the Stem, but also because of the very robust construction, it is resistant to falls and therefore fits perfectly on a potent MTB like the Lynx 5.5.
As the name suggests, the bike itself is based on the well-known Lynx platform, which offers outstanding performance thanks to suspension guru Dave Weagle's Split Pivot rear triangle. While the two top models will only be available with 27,5+ tires, customers can choose between 29″ or 27,5″ for the other variants. Two Cross models will also be part of the Rebel range.
By the way: The test track showed how great the interest in the new bikes and the PW-X drive is. The model with the new Yamaha drive was permanently sold out at the BH stand from almost 9:00 a.m. until the end of the fair.

BH Evo - Larger batteries and new display
A lot is also happening for 2017 with the Evo e-bikes, which have been known and popular for a number of years and have an inconspicuous hub motor. From now on, the cover of the battery housing is no longer made of plastic but, like the frame, of aluminium. Due to the thinner wall thickness, there is more space inside and the designers were able to accommodate more power cells as before. The Pro variants will come with a 2017Wh battery from 600.
Something has also happened to the motor itself and its connection: the connection mechanism has been redesigned and the drive can now be plugged in and unplugged with a simple movement of the hand. The background was an easier removal of the rear wheel for maintenance or in the event of a breakdown. There is also news at the other end of the drive, namely with the display: Here, for the first time in 2017, a solution consisting of a separate display and remote is offered. The connections are compatible with the previous ones, so nothing stands in the way of retrofitting.
