Spectrum: For a good cause, the Cologne-based bicycle manufacturer Bombtrack and the Berlin Bicycle Week are auctioning off the show bike put together as part of the bicycle show in March. The entire proceeds go to the organization Velafrica, which has been collecting and repairing mucked-out bicycles for over 20 years and bringing them to poor regions of Africa.
Really great campaign by Bombtrack and the Berlin Bicycle Show. The Arise show bike, which we were able to admire in person in the capital in March, is currently under the hammer. Every euro from the proceeds then goes to the Swiss organization Velafrica - more precisely to a facility established in Tanzania in 2015, the Arusha Bicycle Center. Young people in particular should benefit from this: There is high youth unemployment in the economically very weak region and the Arusha Bicycle Center offers interested and talented boys and girls the opportunity to learn the bicycle mechanic 1×1. A special support and learning program was created for this purpose – the first participants recently successfully completed it and the response has been great.
