cycling: Team Trek confirms the exemptions for Cancellara

September 24, 2016 by Editors

Cycling: Once again, the Russian hacker group called Fancy Bears has released WADA documents from the ADAMS reporting system. Including data from Fabian Cancellara (Trek-Segafredo), Jakob Fuglsang (Astana) and Stephen Cummings (BMC). The Team Trek has now responded with a press release.

In it, Team Trek confirms the two exemptions granted to Fabian Cancellara in 2011 and 2013. The Swiss was given the substance methylprednisolone, which is used, among other things, to treat allergic and autoimmune diseases. In technical terms, these exemptions are referred to as TUE (Therapeutic Use Exemption). Cancellara received these treatments because he was stung by bees. To back up this claim, Team Trek also directly released the accompanying photos, which show Cancellara with a swollen face. Jakob Fuglsang received the substance triamcinolone acetonide and Stephen Cummings the asthma drug salbutamol.
