News in brief: The German team BORA-hansgrohe (formerly BORA-ARGON 18) around road world and European champion Peter Sagan has now officially received the WorldTour license for the coming 2017 season from the world association UCI. The team in Upper Bavaria has made the leap into the elite class of Cycling, of course, delighted.
The world association awarded a total of 17 WorldTour licenses last Friday. Only the application of a racing team - TJ SPORT (formerly Lampre-Merida) - is subjected to a more detailed examination. This means that BORA-hansgrohe will now be the second German premier league team to start alongside Team Sunweb (formerly Giant-Alpecin).
Team manager Ralph Denk: "A dream has now come true. We expected it, but you can never be sure. That's why it's all the nicer that we finally have the official confirmation. It's a first major success for us even before the actual season. A result of hard work over the past 7 years, as a Continental Team, Pro Continental Team, towards the UCI World Tour. Our title sponsors BORA and hansgrohe, as well as Specialized, made this possible, and I would like to thank them for their trust in our team. I would also like to thank all of my loyal companions over the past few years. I'm sure that BORA - hansgrohe Germany will be well represented in this first league of cycling."
