Market: The Eurobike 2018 will not only take place at a much earlier date, but will also be aimed exclusively at trade visitors and will only extend over three days. This new concept means a quick and resolute departure from the concept used for the first time this year with an extensive supporting program for end customers. The organizers are reacting to criticism from the industry.
The earlier date for Eurobike 2018 has been decided for a few weeks. Instead of the end of August / beginning of September, the world's largest bicycle trade fair will take place at the beginning of July from 2018. The background to the new date is the product cycle of many manufacturers, which has been postponed for some time, and who often present their innovations for the following year in the middle of the year. It was also decided quite early after the end of this year's trade fair that the concept with a larger supporting program for end customers would be abandoned.
Today it was also announced that Eurobike 2018, after starting on Sunday, July 8, 2018, will close its doors again on the following Tuesday. The reason for the shortening are the wishes of the exhibitors, most of whom had spoken out in favor of it. Klaus Wellmann, Managing Director of Messe Friedrichshafen, emphasizes the clear vote of the industry in a statement: “The vast majority of our customers have spoken out in favor of a three-day Eurobike 2018. As a partner to the global industry, we support this claim and thus provide exhibitors and trade visitors with the usual business time of three days.”
