First Look: The Bulls Millennial 2 will be one of the very first complete bikes to be equipped with Shimano's new Metrea urban groupset. We already had the opportunity to take a close look at a prototype of the new urban runabout.
Shimano's new drive group for urban bikes, Metrea, was introduced in February this year and some components have also been available in the aftermarket for some time. So if you can retrofit your existing bike with the chic and simple Metrea crank or with the rear derailleur, there are currently no complete bikes that use the Urban group from Shimano - the first real ones shouldn't be available until next spring Metrea Bikes to be reckoned with. The Bulls Millennial 2 will be one of the first complete bikes to come onto the market here - the urban bike with racing bike genes will be available not only as a SORA version but also as a real Metrea bike. We had the exclusive opportunity to take a close look at a (unfortunately not roadworthy) prototype of the new Bulls bike long before the official start of sales.

Product news: Shimano Metrea: New, minimalist drive group for urban bikes
Market: It's been quite a while since Shimano introduced a completely new drivetrain - today is one of those very rare days. It's called Shimano Metrea and is the first group from the Japanese manufacturer that is completely geared towards the requirements and needs of urban bikes. Minimalist design, high variability and an interesting new seating position […]
But what makes Metrea, or rather the bikes with the Metrea group, so special? A fundamental difference to conventional bikes is the operating concept, or more specifically, the handlebars. Here one turns away from the traditional shapes and relies fully on the so-called H-Bar shape. To put it simply, this is a reduced racing bike handlebar and the grip position is based on the brake lever position on the racing bike. The new brake and shift levers of the Metrea group have been designed accordingly: In terms of size and shape, they are almost a little reminiscent of brake levers from the triathlon or time trial area.

However, the Shimano Metrea is not the only highlight of the new urban speedster from Bulls. The shape and geometry of the aluminum frame are based on modern endurance racing bikes and should therefore effortlessly master the balancing act between sportiness and comfort. Thanks to the carbon fork, 40mm wide Schwalbe tires and comfort support, also made of carbon, bumps and vibrations should be noticeably dampened.

The simple design makes the Bulls Millennial 2 a real eye-catcher: The Supernova lighting, for example, is unobtrusively integrated into the frame and the overall picture - the rear light is located in the seat clamp and the bright E3 Pure headlight forms a visual unit together with the stem. The lamps get their energy from the hub dynamo in the front wheel.
The Bulls Millennial will be available in stores next spring. The Millennial 2 with the Metrea group is priced at €1.999, the Sora variant Millennial 1 will cost €1.299.
