News in brief: The southern German drive manufacturer Pinion has received the Baden-Württemberg Innovation Prize, which has been awarded since 1985, for its central drive. In the criteria of technical progress, special entrepreneurial performance and economic sustainability, the company was able to assert itself against over 100 other competitors.
The central gearbox from Pinion has been commercially available for some time now and has already gained a large following. The shifting mechanism is located in the area of the bottom bracket and offers the typical transmission advantages over derailleur gears: Less maintenance, shorter shifting times and greater robustness are just a few of them.
An expert jury of independent professors and scientists, well-known industry experts and a specialist journalist have now awarded the company the Innovation Prize of the State of Baden-Württemberg.
Pinion founder and managing director Michael Schmitz is delighted with the award: “We are absolutely overwhelmed and at the same time speechless about this award. Baden-Württemberg has always been good for us and for our ideas. We didn't just study here. We also met the right people here who developed Pinion with us and brought it forward. The award is great recognition for the work of the last few years, especially for our employees.”
