Cycling: After a change of sponsor and name for the new season, the German WorldTour Team Sunweb (formerly Giant-Alpecin) presented the team kits and team bikes for 2017 today. Fans of the racing team will have to get used to new colors – instead of the almost black jerseys now comes a white jersey with black sleeves and red applications.
New sponsor, new name, new jersey: numerous changes are planned for Team Sunweb for the coming season, but the original team DNA will be retained: The team motto "Keep Challenging", which was already established in the Giant Alpecin days, will continue to be the leitmotif of the be a German racing team. This includes the corresponding stripes on the chest.
Even if the name Giant disappears from the team's name in the future, the bicycle giant will remain the team's outfitter. Of course, the new colors black, white and red can also be found in the team bikes.
Team boss Iwan Spekenbrink said during the presentation: “We are proud to present our new outfit for 2017 with our new title sponsor Sunweb. We're delighted to have received our signature two-stripe design, which represents our deep-rooted "Keep Challenging" approach. For the team members, the meaning of the two stripes goes far beyond a design element on a jersey. One of the stripes represents the ongoing development of the athletes, while the second stripe represents the ongoing development of the science and technology environment within the team. Together, the two stripes form the “Keep Challenging” strategy that the team has been committed to from the start and has fueled our growth since day one.”
