Cycling: Team BMC duped the competition at the Tour of Valencia. In the team time trial, they clearly won with a lead of 21 seconds on Sky and 49 seconds on Quick Step Floors. Tony Martin and his team Katusha-Alpecin finished eighth without a chance.
Manuel Senni first leader
At the 37,9-kilometer team time trial in Orihuela, Tony Martin started for his new team Katusha-Alpecin for the first time. Actually, the chances of at least having a say in the fight for the podium places were good. In the end, however, it was only enough for an eighth place. However, the team bosses could not be satisfied with almost two minutes behind the winning team BMC. Things went much better for 24-year-old Italian Manuel Senni, who crossed the finish line first and will therefore be at the start tomorrow in the leader's jersey. Last year's winner Wout Poels achieved a good starting position with his team Sky. Tomorrow is a 181,8-kilometer and relatively flat stage on which Olympic champion Greg Van Avermaet could snag the leader's jersey.
