Market: For over 130 years, the Victoria brand has been firmly associated with the bicycle theme. Despite all the awareness of tradition, current developments are not overslept and the focus is increasingly on the e-bike card. The Victoria e-bikes 2017 include a total of over 40 models - we have plowed through the range and give a small overview.
Victoria E-Bikes 2017: e-Manufaktur - Noble and from a single source
The e-Manufaktur models have been in the Victoria range since 2014 and have already won several tests and also performed excellently in the FOCUS test. The original goal was to design a new, modern and stylish classic step-through bike. For example, the battery moved to the seat tube, and the frame took on curved lines. It wasn't long before the first Victoria e-Manufaktur bikes appeared with a horizontal top tube, but with the same striking design language and the usual high-quality equipment.
In view of the great success of the product range, it is not surprising that in 2017 it once again has a permanent place in the German manufacturer's range. There are six equipment variants this product year, with three of them you have the choice between step-through and horizontal top tube, the other three are only available with a deep-drawn "Wave" frame. All e-manufacturer models have their Bosch drive in common. The southern German e-drive pioneer equips three models each with its active drive and the powerful performance motor.
When it comes to gears, Victoria relies almost exclusively on low-maintenance hub gears on the e-Manufaktur models. On the cheaper variants with Active Line motor, the gears are changed with Shimano's Nexus shifting hub, while the top models use the stepless NuVinci hub in addition to a variant with XT derailleur gears. The prices of the Victoria e-Manufaktur wheels range between €2.699 and €3.599.

Victoria E-Bikes 2017: e-trekking – all-rounders with a Bosch drive
The most versatile and, with more than 20 models, also the most comprehensive e-bike model from Victoria 2017 are the e-trekking bikes. They all have one thing in common - from the inexpensive entry-level 5.5SE to the top model e-Trekking 8.9 - the drive from Bosch. The orientation of the e-trekking bikes is, as befits such bikes, extremely universal: mudguards, StVZO-compliant lighting equipment and a luggage rack make the Victoria e-trekking models comfortable everyday companions, while the suspension fork takes the fright out of even the worst pothole.
With most models, buyers can choose between the three Victoria-typical frame shapes: In addition to classic men's frames with a horizontal top tube, there are also trapezoidal frames with a lower step-through and also the wave shape as a traditional step-through frame. In view of the large number of different model variants, it is not surprising that there is a suitable model for (almost) every requirement and every budget. In addition to the powerful Bosch Performance motor, which is supplied with 500Wh batteries, modern, hydraulic disc brakes are also used on the top models. Of course you can also choose between hub and derailleur gears, depending on your preferences and needs. In terms of price, the Victoria e-trekking bikes range between €2.999 and €1.849.
Victoria E-Bikes 2017: e-special – special bikes for special needs
With the Victoria e-special pedelecs, the name says it all: these were special bicycles for special needs in different respects. Well, the requirements for the two models e-special 10.7 and 10.6 are not that special - they are real S-Pedelecs, the drive of which supports the driver up to a speed of 45km/h. While a Bosch motor provides the necessary power on the 10.7 model, the Impulse 10.6 drive pushes the e-special 2.0 up to maximum speed. While the latter is only available as a men's model with a horizontal top tube, the S-Pedelec with Bosch drive is also available as a variant with a trapezoidal frame and low step-through.
Apart from that, the two models are similar in many respects: Extremely powerful brakes from Magura bring the necessary deceleration even at high speeds and the gears are changed with XT gears from Shimano on both models. In terms of price, the model with the Impulse drive is a step ahead: At €3.399, it's a whole €300 cheaper than the e-special 10.7 with Bosch Performance motor.

Victoria e-Special 7.7: If you want something more
With the e-special 7.7, Victoria also has an e-bike in its range that is characterized by a maximum permissible total weight of 170kg. The weight limit is always an issue, especially with e-bikes, since the weight of the bike is part of the permissible total weight, as is the load on the luggage rack, for example. For example, if you take a permissible total weight of 130kg, that sounds like a lot at first. However, if you subtract the average weight of an e-bike with 25kg and maybe another 5kg load on the luggage rack, only 100kg remain for the rider and possibly a bag or backpack.
In this respect, it is welcome that Victoria has a correspondingly stable bike in its range, which is also well equipped with hydraulic rim brakes, Impulse 2.0 drive and Shimano Nexus 8 hub gears. The Victoria e-Special 7.7 costs €2.899 and is available both as a step-through frame and as a traditional men's frame.
Victoria E-Bikes 2017: e-Urban, e-Retro and e-Holland - the eye rides along
With three model series, Victoria is dedicated to the topic of e-bikes in the city. The new retro model is particularly stylish and pleases with its leather grips and saddle, colour-coordinated tyres, chrome attachments and a visually appealing frame. In addition, there are almost a dozen urban models whose equipment and geometry are primarily aimed at comfort-conscious city cyclists and which are available for a price of €1.499. The three Dutch bikes have the same characteristics as their non-motorized counterparts: upright seating position, stable handling and city-friendly equipment.
Which drive is the right one? Shimano, Impulse or TranzX?
A total of three, or more precisely four, different drive systems are used in the Victoria City e-bikes. The Retro 7.6 retro bike and the two Urban top models 7.5 and 7.4 rely on the Impulse 2.0 drive developed and manufactured in Germany. Its strength lies in particular in the economy and the very good coordination with the Shimano Nexus gear hub - clever electronics briefly suspend the motor support during gear changes and thus protect the material. For the three Dutch bikes, however, the developers at Victoria chose the Steps drive from Shimano, which is characterized by compact dimensions and low weight. Last but not least, there is the TranzX drive, which Victoria uses both as a traditional mid-mounted motor and as a hub motor on the front wheel. In addition to the very low price, some of the TranzX models can also boast the battery integrated in the down tube.
