As soon as the temperatures in this country scratch the double-digit range again, the first discounter comes around the corner with the first bike offers. From Monday, March 6, 2017, Lidl will once again have one or the other on offer - from accessories to maintenance and care products to clothing. Many of the offers are known in one way or another from previous years and have already been tested by us. That's why we'll tell you in advance what it's worth going to the discounter for and what not.

Lidl bicycle offers: This is available in the branch
Crivit cycling gloves
Price: € 3,99
The cycling gloves from Lidl's own brand Crivit are well-known products that have been available in different designs for 3-4€ per pair at Lidl for several years. In our previous tests, however, the gloves were never really convincing - at least not if you have a certain sporty aspiration. The gel padding in the palms is very thick, the fit is mediocre and the workmanship is poor. Not too much of a surprise given the very reasonable price. If you are still considering: The gloves are usually not packaged and can be tried on in the branch.
Bicycle repair stand
Price: € 25,99
The "Lidl assembly stand" has long since ceased to be an insider tip among hobby mechanics: for less than €30 you can get a stable, solidly manufactured assembly stand that can be folded up to save space and has an overall outstanding price/performance ratio. Of course, the Lidl stand comes up short against much more expensive models, for example from Park Tool, but occasional mechanics can strike here without hesitation.
Velo by Baufix bicycle care (chain oil, silicone oil, chain cleaner, intensive cleaner)
Price: €1,99 each
The bicycle care range from Velo by Baufix is also known from previous years. These are not products that are exclusively available from Lidl, but the chain oil, silicone oil and bicycle cleaner are also available from many hardware stores, for example - but the bottle costs around five euros there - so you can definitely save here. In the past we have only tested the bike cleaner, which does its job, although not quite on the level of MucOff and Co.
Wittkopp Medicus Tour & City saddle
Price: € 9,99
Another brand product are the two saddles from the Wittkopp brand. The Medicus model will be available as a tour and city version, which otherwise costs between €25 and €30. So if you are looking for a well-padded and comfortable saddle for the city, you can definitely strike here - even if we would recommend anyone who rides their bike regularly to buy a suitable saddle in a specialist shop. Preferably with a sit bone measurement.
Bicycle tubes in a double pack
Price: € 2,99
Inexpensive bicycle inner tubes are always welcome - even if they are a few grams heavier than branded models in the case of Lidl inner tubes, they can definitely be used as a cheap replacement. On the other hand, it might be more problematic that there are only the MTB sizes 27,5 and 29″ with Presta valve, the narrower 28″ (and 26″) versions are only available with Auto or Dunlop valves.
Bicycle folding lock
Price: € 14,99
We already had the Lidl folding lock in our discounter short check in the two previous years. The workmanship is mixed, but the form factor, accessories and, of course, the price are all right. Certainly a good choice for a city bike, but the old rule of thumb shouldn't be completely forgotten here either: the bike lock should cost around 10% of the bike that is locked with it.
Lidl bicycle offers: Additional products in the online shop
From Monday, helmets for adults and children, a cycling jersey and cycling shorts with padding will be available exclusively in the online shop. The jerseys come with back pockets and a full-length zip and have always been highly recommended in the past - given the very reasonable price of €7,99. The cycling shorts, on the other hand, were always not convincing, and the seat padding in particular always proved to be rather uncomfortable. If you still want to try it, you have to shell out €8,99.
The cheap helmets for 9,99€ offer sufficient basic protection, but we see the sale via online shop as problematic here: We consider it essential to try on the helmet, even in the lowest price segment. In case of doubt, the only option is to send it back. On the other hand, the integrated rear light is nice as additional lighting.
