With the Stelvio, the Italian manufacturer Sportful has made a name for itself in the absolute performance area of rain jackets in recent years. However, our test of the Sportful Hotpack Norain jacket shows that it does not necessarily have to be the top model: With a weight of less than 160g, it is one of the lightest representatives in the test and thanks to the thin material it can be stowed away quickly and easily in the integrated bag to save space. This then fits into the jersey pocket without plugging or squeezing. Not surprising for such a sporty jacket is the narrow cut and the corresponding fit of the Hot Pack Norain: stretch inserts on the flanks allow the super-tight jacket to lie perfectly on the body and nothing flaps. However, as you are used to from Italian cycling clothing, the Sportful jacket is also rather small - our tip: try it on before you buy it!
To be honest, we were a bit skeptical at first about the rainproofness: The very thin main material, even in combination with the stretchy inserts, didn't necessarily give the impression that it had much to do against the rain. But we were rarely more wrong: Even heavy, persistent rain was no problem at all for the jacket and reliably rolled off. Unfortunately, it quickly became a bit sweaty in the jacket. Small ventilation openings would have been nice, but if necessary you can also use the smooth-running front zip to help.
We tested the Sportful jacket in the Hi-Viz version: With numerous reflective applications all around and the eye-catching neon yellow color, it's hard to miss; If you regularly do your training kilometers on the road in bad weather and/or darkness, we can only advise you to invest the few euros extra for the Hi-Viz version. Everyone else can also use the standard model.
