The all-round rain jacket Sugoi RSX NeoShell relies – as the name suggests – on Polartec's top membrane NeoShell, which promises the best breathability with the best weather protection at the same time. The jacket itself is not explicitly aimed at cyclists, but is intended to protect against wind and weather during a wide variety of sporting activities. Accordingly, a healthy middle ground was chosen in terms of cut and fit, which is quite sporty and doesn't cut a bad figure on the bike, but shouldn't be suitable for serious training or even competitions. The Sugoi jacket also cuts a fine figure when hiking or in everyday life. For our taste, the jacket is quite short - so if you have a long upper body, you should definitely try it on before you buy it.
The all-round character is also underlined by the hood, which on the one hand fits very well over a large bicycle helmet, but on the other hand can also be easily removed in a matter of seconds. Some reflective elements on the front and back bring a little more safety, although other jackets are certainly better here. The four pockets are protected by sealed zips and are also easily accessible when riding the bike.
The weather protection is excellent and does not have to hide from the top representatives from Gore and Co. Water simply pearls off, even in long, continuous rain, and backpack wearers cannot harm the membrane at all. The sealed zips do their job reliably and the sleeves can be adjusted well and close to the body thanks to the Velcro waistband in order to stop the water here as well. The lack of ventilation openings is a bit of a shame - especially in changeable conditions, despite the good breathability, you sometimes wish you could cool off with fresh air.
