Market: The Simplon Pride is the latest hit from the Austrian manufacturer. A completely new aero concept with a two-part stem is said to bring decisive seconds, and a new thru-axle system is also used, in which the axle is not pulled out completely when the wheel is changed.
Simplon Pride - Revolutionary cockpit concept
The first eye-catcher at the Simplon Pride is the new handlebar-stem combination. An in-house development by Simplon promises above all aerodynamic advantages, because the air should flow through the middle through the division. In addition, they rely on full integration, shift cables and brake lines run through the handlebars, which should bring further aero benefits. The handlebars and stem can be selected in different lengths and widths. There are basically two different variants, Race and Marathon, the stem of the Race variant (between 100mm and 130mm) merges flat into the handlebar. On the Marathon version (stem lengths between 90mm and 120mm) the handlebar rises about 2 cm to maintain a more upright position. Even a standard handlebar and stem is no problem. Using an adapter, classic stems with round clamps can also be mounted on the Simplon Pride.
Simplon Pride – quick thru-axle technology
In times of disc brakes, thru-axles are nothing new. But Simplon has a small innovation ready here. The thru-axle is not pulled out completely when changing the wheel. A special stop in the dropout of the fork and rear end holds the axle in the wheel. In addition, the so-called "Raptor Dropout" is intended to provide a noticeable increase in comfort due to the dropouts of the fork being pulled backwards.
Simplon Pride trim levels
The Simplon Pride will initially come in 3 configurations and will only be available with electronic shifting and hydraulic disc brakes, either Shimano, Sram and probably Campagnolo as well. The Shimano versions come with 160mm discs at the front and 140mm at the rear. Sram has 160 discs front and rear. The cheapest model with Shimano Ultegra Di2 Disc starts at 5299 euros. The top models come with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 Disc and Sram Red eTap Hydro. Thanks to a modular system, the Pride should also be able to be fitted with Campagnolo's Super Record EPS with hydraulic disc brakes.
