Cycling: The third stage of the Tour de Pologne was hilly for the first time. The Belgian Dylan Teuns (BMC) was able to prevail in front of Peter Sagan (Bora-hansgrohe) and Rafal Majka (Bora-hansgrohe). With that, world champion Peter Sagan took back the leader's jersey.
Escape without a chance – Ilnur Zakarin & Jack Haig attack too early
Today's Tour de Pologne led the peloton from Jaworzno to Szczyrk over 161 kilometers. In contrast to the first two stages, we went into the mountains for the first time. The escapees shouldn't have a chance today though. The favorite teams didn't miss a beat. In the penultimate climb, Ilnur Zakarin (Katusha-Alpecin) tried his luck but the Russian couldn't really get away. Jack Haig (Orica-Scott) was able to cut a slightly better figure. The Australian pulled out a lead of around 20 seconds, but it was all over for him on the final climb.
Dylan Teuns inimitable - Peter Sagan also strong uphill
When Jack Haig was caught, Valerio Conti (UAE) initially pushed the pace before Adam Yates (Orica-Scott) was able to close the gap. But the Brit squandered his energy too early. Dylan Teuns (BMC) was on his rear wheel. The young Belgian passed seemingly effortlessly and was able to cover the remaining meters alone. Behind them, the Bora-hansgrohe duo fought their way back up. Peter Sagan sprinted past everyone uphill and finished second. Rafal Majka finished third ahead of Wilco Kelderman (Sunweb). There was a gap of five seconds behind them. Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain Merida) even lost 14 seconds to the day's winner Dylan Teuns. Peter Sagan once again demonstrated his versatility and reclaimed the yellow jersey. It should now be exciting in the Bora-hansgrohe team. Who is scheduled for the general classification? With the remaining stages one would be well advised to rely on Rafal Majka. The two professionals shouldn't stand in each other's way anyway, since they've known each other for years and get along well with each other.
