cycling: BinckBank Tour stage #3: Peter Sagan wins again and gets Stefan Küng on the pellicle

August 9, 2017 by Michael Behringer

Peter Sagan Binck Bank

Cycling: Peter Sagan (Bora-hansgrohe) struck again. After the opening stage, the world champion also won today's third leg of the BinckBank Tour. Thanks to the time bonus, he is now only five seconds behind the Swiss Stefan Küng (BMC) in the overall standings.

Peter Sagan: "It wasn't easy today. It was a reminder that we are in Belgium because it was like a sprint in a classic.”

Peter Sagan closes the gap to Stefan Küng

The world champion has struck again. But for Peter Sagan, this year's BinckBank Tour doesn't just seem to be about winning stages. In the overall standings, the fast man from Slovakia improved to fourth place with his second victory of the day. He is now only five seconds behind Swiss leader Stefan Küng. Unfortunately, the two German top sprinters Marcel Kittel (Quick-Step Floors) and André Greipel (Lotto Soudal) were not able to compete for the day's victory. Phil Bauhaus (Sunweb) was the best German in tenth place. So Peter Sagan was able to get his second victory of the day quite easily. In the end he triumphed in front of Belgian Edward Theuns (Trek-Segafredo) and French Rudy Barbier (Ag2r).
