Lifestyle: At the end of the month the Drop and Roll Tour is finally coming to Germany. The fans of the trials superstars Danny MacAskill, Duncan Shaw and Ali Clarkson can look forward to shows in Düsseldorf and Friedrichshafen - and they will certainly be spectacular!
Danny MacAskill, Duncan Shaw and Ali Clarkson don't have much time to chill this month: the three exceptional talents are on the move as part of the Drop and Roll Tour. After Scotland, Jakarta in Indonesia is on the agenda on August 19th and 20th, and a few days later the boys will finally be in Germany. The Drop and Roll Tour will stop at two events in Germany and cause disbelieving looks and open mouths from the visitors there. The first stop is the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf. A total of four shows are planned for August 26 and 27 in the Rhine metropolis, at 13.30:16.30 p.m. and 2:12.00 p.m. respectively. On September 14.30nd, visitors to the Eurobike in Friedrichshafen can look forward to breathtaking tricks. The two shows are at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. and XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.
In an interview, Duncan Shaw talks about the tour, sponsors and new obstacles.
Hi Duncan! This month is going to be really exciting! Together with Danny and Ali you will be on tour for four weeks at a time - first on the other side of the globe and then in Germany. Are you happy?
Yes, of course! It's going to be exhausting, but traveling to a lot of new places with some of his best friends - could be worse.
Since this year you have some new features in the set-up. Who came up with the idea and how are you satisfied with it?
I think it's very important, both for the spectators and for us drivers, to always try something new so that it doesn't get boring. Therefore, new obstacles and features are a must. We've finished the new Eberspächer 7 footer with a high skinny - I can't wait to introduce it to our audience this month. We've also built a new "Bike Rail" that we can use to showcase our Trials roots to spectators.
You also have a new partner. Eberspächer is a heating and air conditioning specialist. Is it important for you to keep a cool head when driving from show to show?
Yes, of couse. When you're on tour, you have to keep delivering, no matter how you're feeling or the weather. You also don't have the option to take a day off. We spend literally hundreds of hours on our bus every year. When we travel to our shows across Europe, it's important to us that we feel good too. Unfortunately, I ordered the Drop and Roll bus without air conditioning, which resulted in unbearable temperatures in summer. Now we have a new system on the bus that allows us to travel comfortably and work on our laptops in between shows.
Last year you flew to the Philippines with the whole team including Fabio to deliver some shows there. Are you looking forward to heading back to the tropics?
Although I live in Scotland, I firmly believe that I'm actually made for warm weather. After having a blast with the boys in the Philippines last year, I can't wait to be in Indonesia in a few weeks time to soak up the sun and shoot some sunny clips. We also heard that there is a pretty big trials scene in Indonesia. It will definitely be great to chat with the people on site and ride their spots together.
After four shows in Indonesia, it's an 11.000km journey back to Düsseldorf for two shows before heading to Friedrichshafen for the Eurobike Festival Day. What are you looking forward to and what can your fans look forward to?
We've been to Germany for a few shows, but never to Düsseldorf. I'm really looking forward to exploring a new city with the team. Visitors can expect lots of tricks and the loudest fans can also bag a few prizes. While it's always great to ride shows at bike events, it's just as great to perform in front of a more general audience and get involved. We're all really into camper vans, so we're really looking forward to checking out all the cool caravans and motorhomes at the Caravan Salon. Eurobike is always awesome and there will be shows with the whole crew again, because Fabio will also be at the start.
