Cycling: On September 1st and 2nd, 20 world-class slopestyle athletes will compete in the old town of Nuremberg at the Red Bull District Ride and have to show what they can do on the legendary course. The track was designed by Martin Söderström. Those who can come up with the craziest tricks will be rewarded. The best athletes in the world overcome the obstacles as stylishly and artistically as possible in order to convince the seven-strong jury and tens of thousands of fans. The event is now taking place for the fifth time in Nuremberg and is unique in this form. Nowhere else can you experience the top drivers in the world in front of such a backdrop in an urban environment. The course is divided into 5 areas, which we present to you here. Check out the video too!
Castle Drop District
In the very first section of the route, the drivers at the Kaiserburgmauer are required to have a lot of courage and the utmost precision. After a 5-meter high drop, it's all about taking the right amount of momentum out of a berm for the second trick on the hip. Here the riders collect the first points for the overall ranking!
Box District
In the second district, the world's best athletes first overcome a step-down jump over stairs in the narrow Untere Schmiedgasse before they can let their creativity run wild over a gigantic 16-meter "fun box" at the Albrecht-Dürer monument.
Jeep the Rhythm District
Then it's on to Sebalder Platz, where the athletes have to find their rhythm in front of the backdrop of the Sankt Sebaldus Church. They have to do three trickable features in a row and completely convince the jury in order to have a chance at the title.
Tech District
In the penultimate section of the route, things really get down to business technically and also challenges the condition of the drivers. Along the old town hall to just before the main market, more than 100 meters have to be overcome with complex combinations of tricks before the elevator takes you to the fourth floor of the town hall.
Big Air District
The athletes don't have time to catch their breath before the grandiose finish. After a short elevator ride, it's off to the window of the town hall, where tens of thousands of fans are waiting down on the main market for the ultimate final chord of every run. From a height of 15 meters, the slopestyle athletes race towards a 4,20 meter high kicker, which then chases them into the Nuremberg sky. Here the professionals have the last opportunity to ecstasy the jury and the fans.
