Great success for the Lübbering team at the Velorace in Dresden: Jane Kittel won her favorite race over the short distance of 65 km.
Thousands of ambitious amateur cyclists from all over Germany set off on the 13-kilometer course “Around the Frauenkirche” on August 21th. The Lübbering team was represented twice in the race, which is part of the German Cycling Cup: While Jane Kittel crossed the finish line first on the short distance over 3 laps after a successful solo ride (1:27:53 hours), Michael Wiese was on the 105 km long route on the way. He crossed the finish line with the leading group and finished 2th (20th in his age group) after a driving time of 17:57:11 hours.
At the German Cycling Cup, the Lübbering team will continue on September 29th at the Rothaus Riderman, when the starting signal will be given for the only stage race in this year's racing series.
Jane Kittel and Michael Weise summarize their experiences at the Velorace
At 8:45 a.m. I started the 63 km distance of the 7th edition of the GCC. The 21 km circuit through the city had to be driven three times and was peppered with two tunnels, tram rail crossings and a few bottlenecks. The field of drivers drove the first two laps 'calmly' and I was able to stay relatively far in front of the boys. In round 3 the pace was then snapped up. On the Terrassenufer about 200 m from the finish, I fell next to me, but I was still able to cheat my way past. Unfortunately, this caused me to lose touch with the group and had to finish the rest of the race alone. And still won in a time of 1:27:53. 😉

After the 63 km race over 3 laps, I started neutralized on the 105 km over 5 laps immediately in front of the Frauenkirche. The sharp start took place directly on Terrassenufer and, with a few changes of direction, led right through the center of Dresden. The tempo was hit straight up, which ultimately resulted in a 45 cut. After initial nervousness in the field, the first field was reduced to around 3 drivers after 60 laps. A leading group did not form due to the constantly high speed. So the field sprinted in the last meters. I had to dodge a fall about 1000 m before the finish line, but still reached the finish line at the end of the leading group in 57th place (class 11).
