cycling: Cycling: Higher minimum wage for professional cyclists

September 28, 2017 by Florian Nowak

Cycling: The world association UCI, the riders' association CPA and the association of professional teams AIGCP have agreed on an increase in the minimum wage for riders of WorldTour and ProContinental teams starting next season.

WorldTour professionals are to receive 2.115 euros more annually, ProContinental professionals 605 euros more. This increases the minimum annual salary to 38.115 or 30.855 euros. Drivers who are driving for a professional team for the first time and are not older than 25 years are not subject to these provisions. A fixed salary of at least 29.370 euros (WorldTour) or 25.300 euros (ProContinental) still applies to the neo-professionals. The minimum wage is also to increase by two percent annually in the two following years. There is still no lower salary limit for women's teams.

More than Florian Nowak

Florian Nowak is a professional cyclist at the EuropeTour level and has competed in many international races. At the German championship in 2017, he was the best non-WorldTour professional in 7th place and was therefore able to recommend himself for the Tour de L'Avenir and the World Championships. But he doesn't just feel comfortable on the racing bike, he's also always drawn to off-road terrain. In addition to sport, he works on his second mainstay and has completed his business administration studies at the LMU Munich.
