In 2018, the Black Forest gram bargainers from Tune bring a 155 g light aluminum seat post, a rear derailleur adjustment aid with laser pointer and Centerlock hubs.
Milling art from the Black Forest – the new lightweight aluminum seat post from Tune
The design of the new aluminum seat post, which weighs from 155 g and is light from 4 g, is inspired, among other things, by half-timbered houses. It is not, typically Tune, due to aesthetics. The external struts, which are laboriously milled out of the aluminum tube (the 20-axis milling/turning machine from Tune needs a whopping 340 minutes longer for the light piece than for the simpler aluminum model), are used to conduct the forces or the compressive and tensile stress with which the support is faced, ideally distributed. The seat post head of the Leichte Stück, which the Buggingen-based company produces in lengths of 420 and 27.2 mm, is also weight-optimised on the CNC machine. The aluminum seat post is available with a slim 40 mm diameter; it was designed for use on racing bikes as well as XC and marathon mountain bikes. Also typically Tune, it will be available in various anodised colors. The post, which is 220g lighter than the standard aluminum model, is priced at €XNUMX.
Practical adjustment aid with laser pointer for the rear derailleur: True to the line
Linientreu is what Tune calls its new, practical adjustment aid for the precise adjustment of all 12, 11, 10, 9, 8 and 7-speed rear derailleurs. Gear adjustment should be child's play thanks to the integrated laser pointer operated at the push of a button. The upper and lower stops of the rear derailleur should be able to be set precisely with this in a matter of minutes. Tune wouldn't be Tune if the Linientreu - by the way, the second Tune tool after the stem alignment tool Spurtreue - weren't 200 g light and therefore easy to take with you on bike trips. The tool, which is finely milled from aluminum, is fixed to the attachment point of the derailleur hanger using a hexagon socket or Torx attachment. The Linientreu will be available from specialist bike shops this autumn for €159.
First Centerlock hubs from Tune
Also new for 2018, Tune is launching its MTB disc brake hubs for the first time in a version with the Centerlock brake mount originally created by Shimano. They are light, of course, and also beautiful to look at.
Tune invests in its own test laboratory
Intensive test bench tests are now being carried out to a large extent in the newly created test laboratory at the Black Forest lightweight construction specialist. This consists of a total of seven testing machines – at Tune they call them Black Forest power plants with a wink of the eye – which can carry out stiffness and durability tests on saddles, quick releases, seat posts, rims, hubs, wheels, stems and handlebars. The most recent result of the interplay of development, calculation and tough material testing: the new lightweight piece of aluminum seat post.
