Cycling: The Giro d'Italia will start in Israel next year. Local organizers have announced that the 2018 Italian tour will begin in Jerusalem. This will be officially announced at a press conference next Monday. In addition to the sports ministers of Italy and Israel, former Giro winners Alberto Contador and Ivan Basso are also expected to attend.
"For the first time in its 101-year history, this world-famous cycle race will start outside of Europe," it says. The Tour of Italy will therefore stop in Israel for three days. The route is intended to pass well-known sites in the Holy Land, and details will also be officially announced on Monday.
